Meme’s Curry didn’t start as a business. It started with a moment. While traveling through Thailand, Shehab Al Attar came across Japanese curry for the first time. There was something about it that stuck with him. When he returned home to Kuwait, he began experimenting in his own kitchen, adding his own twist to suit local tastes.
What began as a personal craving quickly turned into a passion. He shared his homemade curry with friends and family, and soon, word started to spread. People loved it. It felt familiar but exciting. With encouragement from loved ones and a growing community of fans, Shehab decided to take the leap. He named the brand after his daughter, Mariam (affectionately called “Meme”) to keep the heart of the story close.
From a humble kitchen to a lively, anime-inspired restaurant, Meme’s Curry has always been about more than food. It’s about warmth, creativity, and connection. Today, the restaurant is known across Kuwait for its Japanese comfort food, especially its flavorful, soul-hugging curry. After over 10 years of serving hearty meals, we’re still doing what we love: bringing people together over dishes that make them feel good inside and out.
